NAC eye drops, to be used for the treatment of cataract, require 1 drop applied into each eye, 5, 6 or 7 times daily for a period of approximately 8 weeks (although due to the nature of senile cataract a permanent continuance on a much lower maintenance dose may be advisable). Clinical trials indicate an eye condition improvement of 41.5% to 100% for patients within a 6-month period with sustainable results 24-months later. Another study on 96 patients aged 60 years old having senile cataract of various degrees of maturity, with the duration of the disease from 2 to 21 years, showed that carnosine gives a profound effect on primary senile cataract, the effective rate being 100%. Free radicals for the most part cause cataracts and other senile eye disorders. Oxidative stress is also a contributing factor in the development of macular degeneration. Degenerative changes in the eye often begin in middle age, resulting in macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts and other forms of retinopathy in later life. Your doctor makes a small incision on the side of the cornea, the clear, dome-shaped surface that covers the front of the eye. The doctor then...		inserts a tiny probe into the eye. This deviceemits ultrasound wavesthat soften and break up the cloudy centre of the lens so it can be removed by suction. Most cataract surgery today is done by phaco, which is also called small incision cataract surgery. Extracapsular surgery. Your doctor makes a slightly longer incision on the side of the cornea and removes the hard center of the lens. The remainder of the lens is then removed by suction. In most cataract surgeries, the removed lens is replaced by an intraocular lens (IOL). An IOL is a clear, artificial lens that requires no care and becomes a permanent part of your eye. With an IOL, you'll have improved vision because light will be able to pass through it to the retina. Also, you won't feel or see the new lens. Sometimes a part of the natural lens that is not removed during cataract surgery becomes cloudy and may blur your vision. This is called an after-cataract. An after-cataract can develop months or years later. When our eyes are young they contain high concentrations of natural antioxidants that protect against cataract, macular degeneration and other ocular disorders. As we enter middle age, synthesis of the antioxidant glutathione is reduced, resulting in excessive free radical damage. Antioxidant supplements (Ethos élan vital) have been shown to help protect against senile eye disorders but unfortunately, aging diminishes circulation to the eye, thereby reducing the effectiveness of oral supplements.

Recommended Usage

The recommended course of treatment is to use one box containing 2 x 5ml bottles a week, for a period of six weeks and 80% of patients report seeing significant improvements within this time frame. Those with more severe conditions may need to continue their treatment for longer.

   • Apply Bright Eyes drops 5, 6 or 7 times per day to the affected eye(s)

   • Only one drop per eye is needed for each application

   • One of the easiest ways to apply them is to lie down or lean you head well back

   • Asking a friend, relative or partner to apply them for you helps avoid any wastage

   • Pull the lower eyelid down and then gently squeeze the bottle until a drop comes out

   • Instil the drop onto the centre of the eyeball and you will feel when it goes in

   • Press on the tear duct for 2 minutes after applying the drop to avoid it being flushed out

   • Leave at least a 30 minute interval between applying different types of eye drops


Notes

Unopened bottles should be stored in the dark and, wherever possible, in the refrigerator.

Once your condition has improved it is recommended that you continue using one or two drops a day to maintain continuing good eye health and visual acuity.

People without any eye problems should also apply Bright Eyes drops once or twice a day as a preventative measure to help ensure that they don’t suffer with visual impairment in later life.

It is also recommended that you take 2g or 3g of Ethos élan vital supplement in powder form daily.

Bright eyes drops are also especially beneficial to people who spend a lot of time in front of computer screens or who drive a lot at night, as they also help to relieve tiredness and soreness of the eyes. Simply apply one or two drops when discomfort is felt, for rapid relief.
